I Heart… We♥It

I feel like I should have an unbelievably epic topic to write about what with this being my very first post for the “new” Shimmer Like Gold. Perhaps not epic, but here’s as close to as I’ll ever come: We♥It, a visual bookmarking website. Essentially what the website does is allow you to save any image you find online onto your own personal page (adorably titled “My Heart”) creating your own collection. Kind of like an image inspiration folder. Admittedly, I’d always known this website existed and kept it in the back of my mind, but it wasn’t until last night as I was starting to prepare ideas for posts here that I bit the bullet and signed up for an account. Be warned, it’s a highly addictive website! I went nuts “heart”-ing images. Definitely a website I’ll be (ab)using for a long time to come, I’m sure.

I highly encourage you to check it out. :D Though be warned that you’ll probably spend hours on it. XD What I love most about it is that no matter what website you’re on, you can add the images to your page at WeHeartIt. Pretty nifty, I think. ;)

I should check out We Heart It. I’ve been meaning to look at…any image bookmarking site, but…ehhhh, I’m so lazy!

It really is! I used to have so many websites and LJ posts bookmarked for pictures, and now I can clean them out and just have everything referenced at WHI. It’s awesome. :D

So yes, as I said on tfl – one of the most beautiful layouts I have ever seen! It’s just ..perfect <3.

I’ll bother you with affiliation once my personal site is finished. WP is giving me such headaches!

By the way; we<3it is perfect! I always save millions of images all over the place and can never find them back. I was just to go on a picture hunt for a layout and will definitely use the site so I can easily look back.

Have I mentioned already that your layout is just made of pure win? ;)

Oh the flattery! *blush* Thank you, Wendy. :D And dude, you don’t even have to ask re: affiliating. It goes without saying! We will definitely affiliate! :D I can’t wait to see your site! I do hope WP starts behaving for you though. :) It give me a few headaches in the beginning (even now it still does… crazy customizations :P), but in the long run, it’s SO worth it. I don’t know what I’d do without it. <3

I see that you’re using WordPress. I’m trying to use it with my domain (http://ohreverie.com), but I’m so lost on how to customize WP to fit my layout. Any suggestions of which sites to go to for her? I’ve been reading wordpress and i’m just like “HUUUUUH!?” Any help would be amazing. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I’m not that handy with WordPress. XD It and I… we’re not friends. Haha. I wrestled for days trying to get it to do what I wanted. My best suggestion (as this is what I did) is to take the Default WordPress theme and just pick it apart. For the most part, you can treat the header.php file as a regular header you’d use on any website and then code away to your heart’s content. It was pretty much trial and error for me while testing stuff out. Hope that was somewhat helpful! :)
