“Maybe everytime a dream shatters into pieces it breaks you up a little bit inside so that when it happens enough you can’t connect the pieces back together because they’re tiny as dust and maybe that’s when you can’t find yourself. Because really we’re just heart and bones and dreams. What else is there?”

What time is it Mr. Wolf?

Drinking… Crystal Light. I made it my mission to start eating better and drink the recommended 8 glasses of water daily since I finished university. I’m proud to say that I’m staying on track with the water drinking thanks to the wonders of Crystal Light. Peach Iced Tea, Strawberry Orange Banana and Pink Lemonade make water delicious and I don’t feel like I’m forcing water down my throat. Success story: I down 4.5 litres of it a day. That’s about 9 glasses! The only downside is that being anywhere further than 30 feet from a washroom is simply not an option.

I’ve been doing a little thinking, pondering if you will, à la Winnie the Pooh (see below) about this here blog. While, for the most part, I’m content with my current set up – weekly “I Heart” posts about anything and everything I find inspiring – I’d also like to switch things up a little bit and try some new ‘columns’. What I’d like to do is, in addition to my regular “I Heart” posts, include a weekly ‘feature’ or ’special’ entry. For example, I always do my Things That Made Me Happy posts on the first of each month. I’d like to do something along those lines once a week. So week one would be my Things That Made Me Happy post, week two of the month would be something else, week three something different again… I just thought it might be fun to change things around a bit. :)

I don’t think it’s possible for me to be any more excited about Tim Burton’s upcoming film Alice in Wonderland (set for release in 2010). News has been circulating around the project for ages and even the slightest mention of it fills me with anticipation. One, because I’m a huge fan of the Alice stories, and two, because Tim Burton can do no wrong. He brings a very whimsical, eerie, experimental, and visionary quality to every film he touches and I always look forward to seeing where he will go next. In this case, his “next” being Alice in Wonderland. At long last, we have the first official glimpse into the film: a collection of six images including three promo shots of the Mad Hatter, Red Queen and White Queen, and three conceptual images of the sets. I think my heart just skipped a beat!

Things have been a little dreary here lately. Weather-wise mostly (will the rain ever end?). But all this endless gloomy weather has started to put a damper on my spirits as well. This morning it took every ounce of strength to roll out of bed and get dressed instead of cuddling deeper into the covers and spending the day watching television and movies. I hate that terrible weather can have such a huge effect on my mood, automatically taking me from cheerful down to kind of … well, blah. I hope no one else is experiencing the summer-time blues right now like I am, but if you are feeling a little under the weather, perhaps this will cheer you up. A little cheeky humour always puts a smile on my face, so I thought now would be an appropriate time to mention the hilarity of New Math. If only math had been this fun in school…
Here are just a few of my favourites. Many, many more can be found at morenewmath.com.
