Just A Minute… In July 2009

Playing… Klondike on my iPod. But really, who are they kidding – just call the thing by it’s proper name: solitaire! It’s terribly addictive. Almost worst than ice cream!

Tweeting… Thanks to the wonders of Tweetie for Mac, I’m back on Twitter again. (Feel free to follow me for randomosity and blog updates: krissy_) TwitterFox was evil and always made Firefox crash on me, so I’m glad to have a program that’s reliable and, of course, really shiny!

Devouring… It’s cherry season! And I’m eating them by the kilo.

Watching… Little blue gnomes only four apples high, it’s… The Smurfs! My parents got a new television channel package which includes Teletoon Retro so I’ve been enjoying childhood favourites. Oh, the good old days.

Reading… J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan and Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. I’ve been feeling rather nostalgic lately and have had the urge to re-read childhood favourites.

Saving… Indigo was having a 4 for 3 sale, so I stocked up on tonnes of interior design books I’d been eying all year. I ended up getting a 50$ book for free! My wallet cried a little afterward, but you can’t beat that sort of deal… Okay, I have a problem. I’ll admit it. My name is Krissy, and I’m a book-shopaholic. (Hi Krissy.)

Anticipating… Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! (Who isn’t?) I’m beside myself with excitement and suspense. My dad and I are going to see it Saturday night. :D

Marathoning… Moonlight. And I’m embarrassed to say, I have a huge crush on the central character: vampire private investigator Mick St. John. I could just eat him up with a spoon. It’s too bad the show was so short lived. (Only 16 episodes.)

Procrastinating… Oh yes, the nasty habit is back. I was a good student for all of two weeks, and then it was back to my old ways.

Wiring, Building, Inventing… A light fixture! We had to design a light fixture for my design course as well as physically create it! It’s been quite the learning experience. It’s still a work in progress at the moment, but when I finish, I might post a picture for everyone to see.

My god Anne Hathaway looks creepy there.

I’m with you with the book shoppaholic-ness! I am the same, I would much rather own a book than a DVD or CD.

OMG Harry Potter! I am seeing it Thurs and I am so excited!!!

Creepy, but gorgeous! It’s like that ugly pretty thing that Fashion TV goes on about. Haha.

Glad I’m not alone in the book-shopaholicness! I just have zero self control. I see a pretty book, and I must have it! XD They’re so much shinier than DVD’s or CD’s.

Thursday! I’m jealous! I don’t know how I’m going to survive until Saturday night. But I had too much pride to go alone on opening night. XD That, or I was too embarrassed to go.:P

4 for 3 sale? And I missed it? I need to buy new books to take to the cottage, ugh! How did I not know this? :P

I wasn’t really looking forward to HBP (I haven’t even seen OOTP), but my friend invited me to go tomorrow and I’m pretty excited now. I’ve heard really good things about it!

I with I would have asked how long that book sale was on. I’m assuming it’s over now, but if it wasn’t, I would have gone back for more! Haha

Lucky you! I hope you enjoy HBP!

You’re so lucky! I’ve had quite a few interior design books on my list but they’re all so very pricey. I’ll continue to have hope that one day I’ll be able to get a few.

I haven’t seen the Smurfs in years. Definitely a childhood favorite.

I hate that they cost so much money. :( I guess it’s all the colour photos. But I love them so so much, so I say to heck with it! I want a career in interior design, so they’re worth it. :D

I hadn’t seen the show in ages before just this month. Gosh, I miss good cartoons.

Klondike is SO addictive!! I wonder why they call it Klondike and not solitaire though. And cherries are so yummy :)

Krissy replied on 14 July 2009...

I wondered that too. I don’t get the name Klondike at all.

I could LIVE off of cherries. Best fruit ever. Too bad they’re so expensive.

Wow, love this picture of Anne, such a great background!
Can’t wait to see Harry Potter either, too bad I think they had to postpone it here for swine flu precautions…
Enjoy the Smurfs, haha. I still love these kind of cartoons from my childhood :)

I loove the background on that Anne picture so much. Really, it’s the only reason I chose to put that picture there. XD Haha.

Oh no! I hope you get to see the movie soon. :)

I love looking back and watching the cartoons I loved so much from my childhood. They were classics! All the cartoons that are on now a days don’t even come close.

I’ve had so many cherries in the past few weeks that I’m getting a little sick of them. :p And I’m probably just as excited (if not more excited, haha) for HP as you are!

I could never get sick of cherries. Ever. Actually, I probably could, but it would take a long, long time.

HBP! HBP! :D

Yes, yes I want to see this light fixture! I’m sort of living vicariously through your design courses– I’m so jealous! :-)

A Retro television channel…wow…there’s another thing I envy. I’m such a sucker for products from the good ol’ days. Is David the Gnome on there? That was always a favorite of mine.

Ooo books. See, at least you splurged on books and not on like a stack of soft pretzels or something. Knowledge is power, so really you did a good thing for yourself! Yay for Krissy!

I love that picture of Anne up there. She’s such a lady. You always find the coolest pictures!

Just for you, I’ll post pictures of my finished light fixture. ;) I just finished it this afternoon, and I’m quite pleased with it, if I might say so.

I’m not such if David the Gnome is on the channel. I’ll have to check. They have a crap tonne of awesome old shows though. The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Rocky and Bullwinkle… the good stuff. It’s strangely comforting to wake up on Saturday movie and camp out in front of the television with my bowl of cereal watching cartoons. Maybe that’s childish to some people, but I find it quite pleasant.
I need you on my side when I’m trying to explain myself to my mom! She thinks I spend way too much on books. I try to tell her it’s for my own benefit, but she won’t have it. :P I just can’t help it. I love design so much and I love having mountains of books so I can always immerse myself in that world.

(Hi Krissy). My name’s Jenaveve… and I too am a book-shopaholic… but I think you might have known that.

You would be proud though – I was in the vicinity of a book sale just this weekend and I didn’t buy anything.

Granted there was nothing that really jumped out at me. But I went straight to the newsagent to get a magazine in it’s place.

Oh… my name’s Jenaveve and I’m a mag-aholic. (Hi Jenaveve)…

LOL. Congratulations, Jenaveve book-shopaholic! I’m so very proud of you for resisting a book sale! I don’t think I could have done it.

I’m afraid I might have to join Mag-aholics Anonymous as well! I’m starting to have a wee bit of an obsessive buying problem in that area as well!
