I Heart… Chanel Couture (Fall 2009)

I’m completely and utterly behind the times with this one for which I’m terribly, terribly appalled. Fashion waits for no man! Fortunately, I am woman, and I say, “Better late than never!” Such is my philosophy on dieting, on washing dishes, and now, apparently on blogging.

Anyway. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: I’m probably one of the least fashionable people north of the border. I’m sure on numerous occasions others have wondered whether I actually owned a mirror in my house. Sometimes, I wonder that too. What is this mirror type device you speak of? Beside my point though. Despite my apparent lacking of the ‘fashionista gene’, I still adore all things couture to no end and my life simply would not be complete without excessive designer stalking. The apple of my eye this season: Chanel. Though honestly, when is Chanel not the object of my affections? If this were high school, and Chanel the boy I was crushing on, there would be little doodle hearts exploding all over the place right now. Not a pretty sight.

Silliness aside, here’s a quick glance at some of the drool-worthy ensembles from the fall line. Sit back and prepare to be awestruck.

Heidi Mount Abbey Lee Sasha Pivovarova

Yulia Lobova
The beaded collar, waistline and wristbands of this number appear to be adorned with delicate snowflakes.

Tara Jean
I love the way the fabric drapes so regally around the legs. It’s almost peacock-like.

Sasha Pivovarova
Sign me up for one of these! This extravagantly ruffled dress is the definition of femininity and class with its buttery white colour and clean contrasting black details. This is one of my favourites from the entire collection, and model Sasha Pivovarova wears it beautifully.

Angelika Kocheva Milana Keller

Sasha Pivovarova
Loving the lace tights seen throughout the entire collection (though, they of course are nothing new fashion-wise, they just add to the beauty of the line).

Kim Noorda
Beautiful. I love the way the fabric falls in perfect pleats. It’s very feather-like. The entire dress reminds me of a swan in its grace and elegance. (You’re all going to think I have a bird fetish now since I’ve referenced yet another feathered friend. Do I deny it? … no.)

Charlotte di Calypso Charlotte di Calypso

Iekeliene Stange
There are no words. Actually, no. I lied. There is one word: Ethereal.

Iekeliene Stange
Can we all just stop and ogle this one for a moment. Look at the detail! The doubled breasted jacket, the belt, the party streamer-like train, the delicately ruched fabric, the tutu-esque skirt-lining. In a lot of cases, this could be way too over the top, but à la Chanel it radiates sophistication and edginess.

Heidi Mount
The ruffles, oh my gosh, the ruffles. When I die, my heaven will be filled with Chanel dresses embellished with ruffles.

Hanna Rundlof
The fabric flows so elegantly. And the small touches of beading is just the icing to the couture cake.

Dorothea Barth Jorgensen

Draping, beads and feather, oh my! If that’s not a recipe for success, I don’t know what is.

Abbey Lee
This is another of my absolute favourites from the collection. I’m in love with the applique-esque glittered targets the entire dress is shaped from. And the colours are divine; so lush and dreamy. I know it’s a little early to be thinking Christmas lists, but screw it. Dear Santa: Please bring me this Chanel dress. Love, Krissy. xoxo.

Abbey Lee

Chanel can do zero wrong in my books. It’s impossible. It’s against math. And nature. And science. And lots of other things. Chanel = Holy Grail. This entire collection is beyond exquisite; it gives me a squishy feeling inside just thinking about it. Just look at the details. The ruffles, the frills, the layers, the sequins, the lace, the beading, the feathers, the ruching, the applique! This is how fashion is done.

For the fashion forward amongst us – What is your favourite/least favourite line for Fall 2009?

I’m really not fashionable either and I’m not really up on couture (although I do find it fascinating and beautiful), but when I do find myself looking, Chanel always seems to be one to ogle. I absolutely love that buttery white & black dress (the 3rd, one of your favs) … its jaw-dropping gorgeousness!

Ok, Chanel = awesome. And Mister Karl Lagerfeld = awesome too.
The details! THE DETAILS! That jacket is gorgeous.
Fall 2009 was kind of a disappointment for me: I really disliked Gucci (that I usually LOVE) and same goes for Moschino. I quite liked D&G; not that I would wear any of those clothes, and they’re odd, but it was nice to look at. :D
Prada sucked, but then again, I find Prada always awful. XD

I kind of really want Karl Lagerfeld to adopt me. XD Maybe if I ask really nicely? :P

I know what you mean though; Fall 2009 wasn’t my favourite either. Really, I only loved Chanel and Elie Saab.

Chanel continues to be a classic, especially for its Fall lines. I believe the Fall lines are a bit better than the Spring. I enjoyed their Spring line this year, but their fall captivated me! I love the look with the double-breasted jacket. Classic.

I always find the Fall lines to be much more accessible for every day wear. The Spring lines are usually a little more over-the-top. Maybe that’s just me. Not that it matters – I still love looking at everything.

Wow I think I actually like ALL of those dresses! Chanel is awesome! I’m not much of a fashionista either but I know what I like. The sheer/drapey greek-goddessy one is my favorite!

Whoa! I only wish that I could pull off anything like that. Ha. I wouldn’t even try. I have my own sense of style. As you might be able to guess, everything I own either has a maple leaf, a canadian flag or the words Canada on it. I am a little obsessed but that’s me right! It’s what makes me unique. Around Canada day is the best time to shop :D

This is all so romantic…very Chanel. :) I love Couture. It’s always been a dream of mine to attend a Couture fashion show in France, but! I have no reason to be there and I don’t really see any career move that I make landing me the opportunity….so magazines and Youtube are there for me. :)

Loveeeee it.

Oh gosh, that would be so wonderful to attend an actual runway show. I don’t see myself ever having a reason to attend one either, but it would be so fantastic. I know I’d feel totally out of place, but to be in the same room as such beauty and talent… well, its intoxicating thinking about it!

Wow, they are pretty awesome. I always love to look at new fashion. Oh, and when you say you’re the least fashionable person north of the border, you haven’t met me yet.
