I Heart… Barbara Padilla

I will preface this with a: yes, I watch reality television shows. It’s a curse. I can’t stop. I remember watching the first season of Survivor when it aired, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Survivor, The Amazing Race, Top Model (and it’s incarnations), and now, America’s Got Talent. My mom got me hooked on the show this summer. I’ve actually been quite impressed with it. There are a lot of really talented people out there, one of whom I’m so beyond impressed with that it would be wrong not to share her with you all. She, my friends, is the stunning Barbara Padilla. I’ve never been so moved by a performance in my entire life; I was in tears by the end of it. Her voice is incredible, and her story is so inspiring. I can only hope that the American population can appreciate her level of talent and vote her back. She is so far beyond anyone else on the show, and in my opinion, deserves to win.

And I urge you all to give it a listen no matter whether you watch the show, hate talent competitions, loathe opera… It’s less than 2 minutes and it’s a truly magnificent performance. If you don’t want to hear her little montage before-hand, just skip forward to about 2:10-2:15 to hear her incredibly inspiring performance of Ave Maria. This is what music is about: pure, raw talent and the voice of an angel.
