Hello, autumn! Boy, am I glad to see you! After the scorching summer heat and nasty black flies, you’re a sight for sore eyes. So farewell until next year, summer, because I’m quite content with the cooler weather.
I come from a family where autumn is generally loathed simply because it means winter is on its way. And I know on the whole, autumn isn’t really a favourite amongst the general population. But personally, autumn is my favourite season. It’s a welcome relief from the hot sun. It brings crisp mornings with the first hint of frost of the grass. Adding a snuggly quilt to your bed. Breaking out chunky knitted sweaters from the back of your closet. ♥
So as an ode to my favourite season, proof that not everything is bad about it. As far as colour is concerned, autumn is a feast for the eyes. Plus, last week, Poppytalk hosted Autumn Colour Week and I didn’t have a chance to participate until now. Instead of doing a daily digest of autumn colours, this is just one big collection of browns, yellows, reds, oranges, and greens.

I toyed with the idea of making “Things That Make Me Happy” a weekly entry for a couple of months now, but never 100% commited to going ahead with it. I’ve been going back and forth and back and forth about whether or not this would be a positive chance to my blog or a negative change. I’m not really sure how I expected myself to come to a conclusion without at least giving it a shot. So let me me introduce you to a little something I like to call my ‘prototype’. :P
1. The September Issue
It’s like a backstage pass to the ins and outs of American Vogue. A very informative adventure into Anna Wintour’s world.

apologize that this entry was such a long time coming. Things got crazy hectic this past week. I’m finding I simply just do not have enough hours in my day any more! But I will always – always – make room for fashion, there’s no question about that. So to revive my London Fashion Week recap, here’s a little gander at the Burberry Prorsum collection.

Over the summer, Manda had me on a huge history kick with all our discussions of royalty and history. (She is the Anne Boleyn to my Marie Antoinette!) It’s had me digging out my art history books and shuffling through them admiring my favourite artistic periods. And while I’m not usually one for the “let’s flaunt my excessive wealth with my house-that-by-definition-could-be-a-castle-it’s-so-massive, my diamond shoes, my plasma-screen-television-sets-two-in-each-of-my-20-washrooms, or my money placemats” hoop-la, I’m a sucker for the ole Rococo period of art. I say this because while we can all appreciate and “Awwww!” the cute the cherubs, soft pastel colours and scenes of love and leisure, such was not always the case.

“A crow was filled with envy on seeing the beautiful white plumage of a swan, and thought it was due to the water in which the swan constantly bathed and swam. So he left the neighbourhood of the altars, where he got his living by picking up bits of the meat offered in sacrifice, and went and lived among the pools and streams. But though he bathed and washed his feathers many times a day, he didn’t make them any whiter, and at last died of hunger into the bargain.”
