I ♥ ‘Beauty in Motion’
This may be a bit of a shameless pimp, but I was going to post about this eventually anyway, so does that make me less biased? In any case, I’ll take it because I simply must share with you the wonders of Lily and the Muse, a video archive dedicated to beauty on film. I’ve recently joined as a contributor which is exciting in itself, and I’m super thrilled to be a part of such a lovely project. My delight aside, the site is plum full of beautiful little gems from commercials, to music videos, to film clips and much more.
So I wanted to share some of my personal favourite videos with you all, and, of course, encourage you to check out Lily and the Muse. :)
Amazon Kindle
This has got to be one of my all-time favourite commercials. It’s so sweet and whimsical. For one, it’s downright awesome for featuring the lovely Annie Little and her song ‘Fly Me Away’. Two, I love stop motion films. And three, it makes me want to play dress-up! A very charming advertisement.
Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci
I love this advertisement. It’s so adorably mischievous and flirtacious. Plus, it’s no secret I have a girl crush on Jessica Stam. (And I love the little kick-back to Spider-Man with her dangling upside down.)
Joanna Newom’s ‘Sprout and the Bean’
Joanna Newsom is such a talent; that can’t be denied. And I’m completely captivated with her harp playing. Watching her fingers flitter across the strings is awe-inspiring.i And check out the chalkboard drawings – so fun!
The Virgin Suicides trailer
The whole film is beautiful from start to finish, and if I could, I’d post the whole movie. It’s one of my all-time favourites (both the film and the book upon which it’s based). Sofia Coppola can do no wrong in my eyes.
Miss Dior Cherie
And on the topic of Sofia Coppola, a dreamy little perfume commercial she directed for Dior. I’d like to live in that advertisement.
That’s only a very, very tiny sliver of the delicious pie that is Lily and the Muse. Here are a couple more favourites I’ve discovered through the other wonderful contributors at the site. Hopefully if I haven’t peeked your interest yet, one, two or even a handful, of these will. Enjoy!
♥ Her Morning Elegance
♥ A Series of Unfortunate Events End Credits
♥ Signs (I highly recommend this! It’s so endearing.)
♥ Regina Spektor’s ‘Laughing With’
♥ Imaginary Picnic
♥ On Cloud Nine
♥ Amélie Trailer
♥ Sweet Dreams
- One of my life goals is to someday learn to play the harp. (»)
