Fashion Passes, Style Remains

Sharing is Caring… Day 7: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
~ Coco Chanel

As Sharing is Caring week is now at its end, I thought it appropriate to finish with a topic that constantly makes my heart flutter and is always an endless source of inspiration: the beauty that is Chanel, and the remarkable woman behind it all, Coco Chanel. Chanel embodies everything that is crisp, clean, classic, stylish, and feminine.

I think the Chanel aesthetic suits me perfectly. To those who don’t know me, I may come off as a bit too prim and proper, and perhaps like someone who’s thoughts, morals and attitudes are being held hostage by the 1920′s. I’ll admit, I can be a little prissy and a touch old-fashioned, but I like things neat and tidy, crisp and clean. That’s everything and more of what Chanel is to me. It’s always pristine and timeless. The definition of sophistication. Three things I always strive for in every aspect of my life.i

The extraordinary Coco Chanel once said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” Words to live by.

Quotation

  1. Can’t say I always succeed, but I try. (»)

KRISSY, HOW DARE YOU POST SOMETHING LIKE THIS? CHANEL! GAH. MY HEART! *dies*

I love Chanel as well. I have to agree that it’s always pristine and priceless and definitely the definition of sophistication. And speaking of Chanel, I haven’t seen Coco avant Chanel yet which stars the lovely Audrey Tautou.

PS: I actually do love you for posting this. Hehe. <3

I know, right? It took me so long to put this post together because I kept getting distracted by the prettiness!

I haven’t seen it yet! It’s killing me that I haven’t, especially because I’ve been waiting in anticipation of seeing it for months! Since like… April of last year. I wish it would come out in theatres here. Have you heard of the movie Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky? It looks equally as fascinating!

ILU, right back! ♥

Oh gosh Chanel definitely is sophisticated, and proper. I wish I could afford it personally, but ti is definitely a designer I hope to invest in as well as buy from when I get older and am at a point where money should be spent on what I want besides what I need. Beautiful pictures as well.

I’m in the same boat – not something I can afford now. Not even close. But someday, perhaps. :) For now, I just ogle and drool. :P

Ahh, Chanel. So classy and elegant. Quite Parisian in its style as well (understandably so :P) My only complaint about Chanel is that I really don’t think Chanel No. 5 smells very nice :P

Coco Chanel was brilliant. I’ve always been a fan of the woman, and only recently became a fan of the institution. It’s the clothing, just so perfectly timeless. I don’t want things with the logo on them…but I want that style.

I try to like Chanel, but most of the time I find it rubbish XD sorry. I’m just not into the sleek elegance that it embodies. Plus Chavs have the fake logo all over their shit which puts me off too XD

I must add though, while I don’t necessarily enjoy the fashion, I do like that it embodies more than clothes, but an elegant lifestyle. Much better than say the image say of, Tommy Hilfigure.

The 1920s are a great time to be held hostage by. My vocabular is filled with a lot of words that no one says anymore.

In my short list of fashion brands that I like, Chanel is one of them. I love experimental styles and their’s definitly is.

Hey I finally go my comment luv to work. :D

Krissy!
Your blog drives me nuts with love. I love it.
And Yay! You got The Piano Teacher! haha. Oh you’re going to love it, its just simply riveting. And same! I’m usually wary of bestsellers, but you know once in awhile in my favorite bookstore Nicholas Hoare (don’t know if you’ve heard of it) i’ll come across one (like this one) that just simply knocks me down.
Take care luve!! I’ll most definitely check back on here.

P.S I LOVE jenny lewis’s quote, I felt right at home hearing those words.

I seriously cannot wait to start reading The Piano Teacher! Especially now that it comes so highly recommended by you. :D I’m half tempted to put aside the books I’m currently reading, and dive in, but I really must restrain myself and finish what I’ve already started. It’s next on my list though! :D

I think the only bestseller I ever actually fell completely in love with was The Kite Runner. (Don’t know if you’ve read it before, but it’s just… wow.) But otherwise, I always find the bestsellers are so hyped up and I’m most often let down. So I usually avoid them unless someone whose taste I trust recommends me one. :)
