Mixology… Stargazer, Stargazer, Comets’ Glittering Tails In Your Eyes
“A philosopher once asked, ‘Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human? Pointless, really… Do the stars gaze back?’ Now that’s a question.”
This month’s mix was inspired by the movie from which the above quotation comes: Stardust.i Every time I watch it, that quotation always strikes a chord with me. Oddly enough, this time that chord literally resonated with me… and so I made a mix about stargazing. Not every song is specifically about looking at the stars, per se, but they were selected because they evoke that sort of dreamy night sky mood.

I both love and fear the night star. I find it terribly fascinating to think that in the grand scheme of it all, we’ve all but a teeny, tiny dot of a galaxy amongst the hundreds; that in itself is hard to wrap your head around. There’s something about staring into endless nothingness that makes you begin to wonder and question everything around you. I try not to think about it too long or my brain starts to hurt as I start pondering on how exactly we all exist in time and space.

To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed with it on the first watch; I find the more I watch it, the better it gets. In that regard, I hope that if others feel the same way about it, that they don’t give up after the first viewing, because it gets so much better after mutliple watches. :)
