Watching… copious amounts of movies! It’s been a bit of a movie marathon month. A few favourites include Brothers, Elvis & Anabelle, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Shutter Island, and Alice in Wonderland (2010).
Puppysitting… my aunt and uncle’s dog again! She’s the most adorable thing ever, and I love her to death. She’s my new BFF. ♥
Wondering… as I frequently do, what the best category on Bloglovin’ is for this blog. I never know! None of the categories are exactly what I want, so I stick with “Design”… but it doesn’t feel right. Thoughts anyone? What would you categorize this blog as? I’m drawing a complete blank.
Eating… yummy fruit trifle. Delicious!
Listening… repeatedly to the new Goldfrapp and She & Him albums. Both are amazing! ♥

I’m very passionate borderline obsessive about the colour white. Just as I’m very passionate borderline obsessive about interior design. Together they form a sort of Krissy-magnet where I’m instantaneously attracted straight to anything and everything boasting white and/or interior design. I just can’t tear my eyes away, and experience incredible colour/design lust. There you have it, the secret to my heart: white. Some people melt at the taste of chocolate, others at the sight of a beautiful pair of shoes… me? I get weak in the knees over white-clad interiors. So imagine my delight when I found this house designed entirely in white splashed across the glossy pages of last month’s Canada’s Style at Home magazine. There was real life drooling. No joke. Think Sailor Moon gushing over Tuxedo Mask with the little hearts popping out of her eyes. That kind of lust. If there were others around at the time, I’m sure they would have been slightly disturbed by my obsessive love.

For the past few days, I’ve been indulging in a sea of wonderful new music. On the 23rd, my all-time favourite band, Goldfrapp, released their fifth album Head First. (Coincidentally, another favourite band of mine, She & Him, also released a new album that day as well, so I’ve been delighting in listening to both new albums – both of which are phenomenal!) For the last 5 days straight, the only two things playing in my iTunes have been either She & Him or Goldfrapp.

Drum roll, please…
Tada!! It’s been a looooong time coming (over three months, to be exact, which is quite shameful, indeed), but my dear blog finally has a brand new layout. I’m so, so excited about it, and very, very pleased with the way it turned out. I’m not 100% certain about the font choice for the title just yet, but I can’t quite find anything I like better at the moment either, so it will do for the time being. But the rest of it, I loooove! And I hope you guys do too. It turned out much better than I thought it would, which was a pleasant surprise. I wanted something much cleaner and more structured than my last layout, and I think I achieved that here. I’ll miss the purple/fuchsia colour combination for sure, but the monochrome provides a less distracting background and now all the images in my entries can take center stage. :) Plus, I found this super cool plugin for showing my archives/categories over in the sidebar. Check it out! I keep playing with it, it’s so fun! haha.
Hopefully I didn’t miss anything. I did check quite obsessively, but if something looks a bit wonky, please let me know. Otherwise, enjoy the new shininess of Shimmer Like Gold.

I think it’s finally safe to say spring is in the air! I honestly was not expecting it to pop its head around the corner for a few more weeks yet, but we’ve already been basking in sunshine for about a week now. I think this might be the first ‘first day or spring’ in many years that it’s actually felt like spring. But there isn’t an ounce of snow in sight, and I’ve already dug my flats out from under by bed. I can’t wait to start wearing dresses comfortably again! I think what I’m most looking forward to about spring is being able to hop on my bicycle at any given time and explore the city.
As today is the official first day of spring (and since I was super busy with midterm presentations during actual Spring Colour Week) today seemed like an appropriate day to make up this post. As much as I love winter, I really enjoy all of the seasons (not a huge summer fan, but I deal) so there’s always something to look forward to with the passing of each into the next. And it’s so refreshing seeing all these bright, pastel colours of spring once again. They really bring a smile to my face. So onward to much colourful inspiration in the form of pink, chartreuse, robin’s egg blue, yellow, and purple!
