Hoo-hey, I was an English major in college. :) Your specialization is JUST awesome. Come to think of it, my undergraduate thesis had something to do with folklore and mythology. :)

Thanks for pointing me to the Company of Wolves. Gotta love these fairy tale/mythological re-visions! :) I remember reading a Neil Gaiman rewrite of Snow White’s stepmother (“Snow, Glass, Apples”). There’s so much literary theory to proceed from there.

I loved fairy tales as a kid! It’s sad to say, but I’m not sure my 5 year old nephew knows of any…he’s so into Sponge Bob and Dora the Explorer! Yesterday I tried reading a Shel Silverstein book to him, but he was having none of it! Thomas the Train won out…
This fall he’ll be going to a good school, so I hope some of these tales will be part of his studies…

oh, i have to say Little Red Riding Hood was almost my least favorite as a kid..i was always too scarred somehow (a little girl all alone in the woods!) ;/…i loved something more like “The Three Little Bears” or “Jack and the Beanstalk” or “Cinderella” … but such a lovely post with wonderful images..it must have been a bit difficult to find the perfect photos that related to the story! but you did great!
