Myths of the Forest

Long time no see! I apologise for disappearing for a week or so there. University got super hectic (tomorrow’s the last day of the semester) so I had to hole up for a few days and lay the smack-down on myself. Blogging is such a wonderful/terrible procrastinatory tool, and if I wanted to get my work done, I needed to do a temporary blogosphere-ectomy. Since I’m finally wrapping things up with my final projects, I thought I’d at least pop in, say hi, and share some pretty pictures until I get back into the swing of things once again.

Since it’s been an absolute eternity since I shared a favourite editorial, here’s an oldie-but-a-goodie from the Vogue Nippon September 2006 issue featuring the lovely miss Anja Rubik shot by Carter Smith. Insert some clever segue about the summer-y look of this editorial and the burst of warm summer weather that’s been passing through these parts here. My brain’s fried. That’s the best I can do. ;)

Isn’t it beautiful and enchanting, but still a little bit unsettling and bizarre in a Perrault fairy tale sort of way? Perhaps that’s why it appeals to me. And I heart Anja looots.

Now to catch up on comments and on everyone’s blogs! My feed reader’s exploding at the seams! (Hope you’ve all been right as rain. :D)

These photos are wild. Gorgeous and in some cases just a wee bit scary. But the concept is awesome. Hope things are going well with finishing up the semester. I have another few weeks left myself. I can’t wait.

I really wish, as a photographer I had a location like that available to me to shoot in!

Fashion photography is quickly becoming high art (for those of us who still distinguish between high and low art, haha), and those photos you shared are proof. Simply beautiful! And love the theme! :)

I wholeheartedly agree! Fashion photography is just as relevant and expressive as any other form of art. I have a handful of pictures from my favourite editorials clipped out of magazines that someday I plan to frame and hang up in my place, that’s how much I love them. ♥

These photographs are gorgeous. I love the vibrant elements and how much activity there is going on in each shot.

Also, I noticed that you’re an Interior Architecture/Design major, which is exciting for me, because that’s exactly what I did in college. (And I loved every minute of it, and consequently, feel the same for my design career.) I can count the amount of Interior Design student bloggers on one hand, all the more so for Interior Architecture majors.

I empathise with having to finish submissions and using blogging a tool of procrastination. However, it’s good to know that your blog is focused on design, so you can technically say that you didn’t complete deviate from design as your focus! =P Kidding aside, I wish you the best of luck and success for your submissions, and that you have a wonderful summer vacation!

Hey Maria! Thanks so much for stopping by. :D It’s so awesome hearing from a fellow interior architect/designer! Like you said, there’s not a whole lot of us around which is such a shame! Anyhow, I appreciate the warm wishes. All the best! ♥
