28th May 2011 in A Few Lovely Links

Between finals at university and preparing for my travels abroad, I fell a little behind on my bi-weekly posting of A Few Lovely Links. So prepare yourselves for an extra long links round-up… I’m hoping as things are a little quieter around here than usual, these will keep you all occupied and inspired in my absence. Now, onward to a whole whack of awesome things I stumbled upon in May:

» Stunning black and white photographs of London (from the genius that brought us cinemagraphs).

» Brandi has started a list of 5 things she loves about herself for every day. I love this idea and think it’s one we all need to visit a little more often.

» This yoghurt berry muffin recipe looks delicious!

» One can never have enough shoes.

» Some really spiffin’ and innovative “green” furniture.

» The Miller House… eclectic, bright, modern, filled with pattern and texture… so awesome!

» Words to live by: health, personality, society and life.

» This Tumblr page – Marie Antoinette Reine -  is devoted to all things Marie Antoinette, Sofia Coppola, and all things pretty. Want to reblog the entire thing!

» Interiors inspired by the lovely Audrey Hepburn. What an excellent interiors muse.

» A review of some of the online shelter magazines.

» Bryce Dallas Howard for Kate Spade New York. Adorable. Colourful. Love it.

» Speaking of rainbow colours… remember Lisa Frank? Having a major nostalgic moment here.

» And even more colours!

» Marc Johns continues to blow my mind: illustrations of things wanting to be unicorns.

» It’s a doodle car! What a way to cruise around in style.

» How to make French macarons. I really need to learn to bake…

» 6 Tips For Battling Loneliness. (Maybe not relevant to everyone, but this really resonated with me.)

» Gorgeous gold goodies!

» If you need a laugh, look no further than Clare’s video blogs. She’s hilarious!

How’s that for inspiration? Until next time… peace out, girl scouts! xo.

23rd May 2011 in Music

Lately, I’ve become quite obsessed with getting my hands on a turntable. I’ve wanted one for quite some time, but it’s completely consumed me lately. Every time I’m out, I find myself gravitating to this one second hand shop and perusing all of the records. There are so many gems to be found – Simon & Garfunkel, Ella Fitzgerald, Gershwin, The Bee Gees, Billy Joel, Debussy! – but unfortunately, they’re just out of my reach as I don’t have a player myself. I think I’d really enjoy one though… Nothing beats listening to the classics the way they were meant to be heard. (Little known fact about me: I love jazz, big band and the blues. I totally wish I would have been born in the 20′s so I could have been an age to really appreciate the music of the 40′s.) It seems a bit ridiculous saying this, but I’ve already made an in-my-head Christmas wishlist with “Turntable” right at the top.
