“A few times in my life I’ve had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I have lived my life on these moments. They pull me back to the present, and I realize that everything is exactly the way it was meant to be.”

19th September 2011 in Photography

Bit of a drive by post this morning as I’m a wee bit swamped with projects for university right now. But I only need a quick moment to share this gem with you… the beautiful work of photographer Carlo Van de Roer. His Orb series meets every check point on my current inspiration/obsession list. Minimalism. Simplicity. Water-y aqua green colours. Soft focus photography. Plus he’s popped little bubbles of colour onto each image which I think is super spiffin’. Check it:

17th September 2011 in Mixology

I feel a little bit like I’m in a transition phase. Part of my mind is still back in Australia adventuring up a storm, and the other part is making like a busy little bee with the fall semester of university starting up again. August, September. September, August. No matter what it is you do, there always seems to be a very clear chopping off point from the end of one to the start of the other. Unlike the transition from any other two months. Kind of weird, isn’t it? This is my little attempt at creating a somewhat cleaner segue between the two – a mix of songs that I loved and listened to obsessively during the end of August and the beginning of September. It’s an Augustember playlist!

How To Be An Explorer Of The World

01. Björk – Crystalline
02. Trespassers William – Anchor
03. Birdy – Skinny Love

Girl crush + house crush = Erin Fetherston and her charming little apartment. Swoon.

Everything about her style is so pretty and soft. The textures are lovely, the muted pastel tones are a dream. The space perfectly represents her and is so very much in sync with her design aesthetic as the whole. Plus, how eloquently does she describe what the space illustrates: “I see it as a reflection of my creative universe. It’s romantic and chic, but clean and modern.” I wholeheartedly agree with this. Body, mind, soul, imagination, right? That’s the recipe.

13th September 2011 in Miscellaneous

This is a koala appreciation post. Why? Because they’re super duper cute and I want to have one (or maybe 50) to love and hold and cuddle for always and forever. I looooove them. I loved them a regular and healthy amount before I went to Australia as I’d only ever seen one on television or in a picture. When I saw my first koala in person, the floodgates opened and out poured a waterfall of “Awww!! ♥ ♥”s. For serious, little hearts exploded from my eyeballs like a cartoon character. Regular and healthy amount of love for koalas now? Not so much. More like borderline obsession. So if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to indulge in a little cuteness overload of one of my favourite animals.
