23rd January 2012 in Seasonal

Those that know me, know that I’m a wee bit head over heels for winter. It’s only the greatest season! Nothing beats knitted scarves, snugly mittens, icicles sparkling in the light, that tingly feeling when your nose starts to un-thaw after being out in the cold air. And most importantly, snow!! It’s no stretch of the truth when I say snow is one of my favourite things in the whole wide world. “Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes / Silver white winters that melt into springs /These are a few of my favorite things” – that lyric could have been written by me. It hasn’t been feeling too wintry around these parts the whole season and that’s been supremely depressing (for me, anyway). But over the weekend, we finally got a nice little dusting of snow, and I’m thrilled! ILU, snow.

P.S. Trying a little something different with my images this time around. Yay/nay?

Oh I love this, the images totally work! And I love the snow too and a tiny bit jealous! We have had no snow here all winter.

ME TOO. Well, I’d take any castle really, but that one in particular would be top notch.

Winter here has been just… weird. We had a blizzard a few days ago, today it was almost 60 degrees and then tomorrow it’s supposed to snow again. Nuts. I just wish it would be gentle snow and snow-covered landscapes until March, that would be perfect. I love snow!

Winter’s been really weird here too. Mostly it’s been quite warm which is very uncool. (Pun intended.)

I could totally get on board with this plan for gentle snow through March. Shall we picket Mother Nature?

I love people who are as enthusiastic about winter as I am! It’s so refreshing! I love the pictures so much, but I hate living in California in the winter because it’s never cold, and when it DOES rain or get cold, I just want to dress in coats and sweaters and mittens and hats, but everyone here dresses so different than in Seattle or Chicago or New York and I just want to dress like them so bad and this has been the most disgusting run-on sentence in the universe but I just have so many feelings about winter.

High fives all around! Us winter lovin’ gals have to stick together. ;) Mostly because I tend to annoy everyone else around me with my winter love. They just don’t understand.

It is so funny to see these pictures right now because it is summer here in the southern hemisphere where I am. Nevertheless, they are such gorgeous photographs. :)

Hah, I can imagine it would be kind of strange! I kind of wish I’d be in Oz this time of year just out of curiosity. I thought I’d have that feeling when I was there in our summer… but their winter temperature was my spring/almost-summer weather anyway. Hah.

Do you get snow where you are in NZ?

Nope, no snow where I am! I’m okay with that since I’ve had to dig my car out of huge piles of snow the past few years. I need a break from it for a while. I’ll just look at beautiful snow pictures like this on the internet instead. :)

LOVE the new image format!!!!!!! Ah snow, I wish we could add another few thousand feet to the Blue Mountains here, then Sydney would be the best city in the world with beaches and Snowboarding at either end! *sigh*…

Yes, that would make Sydney the perfect city! ;)

First, image layout is awesome. Keep this style, it is a lovely collage of Winter.

Secondly, snow makes Winter, which is probably why I am hating it this year, no snow. And if there were snow England would collapse under the pressure of clearing it. Your Winter sounds marvellous, but I think I shall look forward to Spring (or at least the end of January, or as I like to call it The Month of Depression)

Merci, favourite Alice! I think I shall keep this style for awhile. I like the collage feel too. :)

Perhaps I should migrate to England for spring (ours are awful… slush, rain, it’s just gross), and you can migrate here for winter (when we have nice snow, anyway).

Krissy, the new layout of the images looks beautiful! But I can imagine that it took you some real time to put this post together. Your design skills show through in everything you do. And yes, I love winter too, though I have to say we haven’t had much of it here in DC yet. I secretly wouldn’t mind a day or two of being snowed in.

You’re too kind, Brandi. :) It did take me a little while to compile, but it was a lot of fun and probably took no longer than messing around in WordPress. So win-win? Maybe? haha.

It sounds like it’s been a truly un-wintery winter everywhere this year. Truly depressing. If this isn’t enough to convince those who think global warming is a hoax, I don’t know what will.
