3 August 2012 in Mixology

It’s summer. (No, really guys. It is! Don’t let this rain fool you.) In my books, Summer means laid back cheery tunes. And that’s what we’ve got here… some moderately upbeat feel good sort of music mixed in with a few more mellow gems. My sort of soundtrack to the summer. What are your summer go-to tunes?

01. Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson – Shampoo
02. Metric – Satellite Mind
03. Polly Scattergood – Nitrogen Pink
04. Bat For Lashes – Priscilla
05. Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining
06. St. Lola in the Fields – Sunny
07. Bon Iver - Towers
08. Elizabeth & the Catapult – Race You
09. Sea Wolf – Dew in the Grass
10. Heather Woods Broderick – From the Ground
11. Goldfrapp - A&E (Maps Remix)
12. Emiliana Torrini – Unemployed in Summertime
13. Cathy Davey – Wild Rum
14. Sarah Slean - Parasol
15. The National – Ada
16. Regina Spektor – Don’t Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)

I love Regina Spektor. Great addition to your mix. :)
And ah, that image you used is wonderful! I recently just saw the series online, and it really is too cool. Puts everything to scale for me.

I’m loving her new album so much! I had to include one of the new songs in the mix. :)

I love this series of photographs too… I have a strange fascination with pools/beaches caught on film.

Something about summertime just makes me want to listen to horrible processed pop music, haha. All the new Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj songs just seem so summery to me. :P And then fall comes around and I can go back to listening to indie bands that nobody has ever heard of, haha.

Oh my gosh, me too! Summer = cheesy pop music to me! That and oldies like crazy. It’s not summer without an excessive amount of Beach Boys. ;D

Unemployed in summertime sounds like a really cool idea for a movie! There’s a lot of stuff on here I’ve never listened to so gonna give this a go! Don’t Leave Me (Ne Quitte Pas) by Regina Spektor is one of my favourites though :)

I can see this movie being directed by one miss Sofia Coppola! That would be a treat. ;)

I’m soooo in love with the new Regina Spektor album. It’s so good, huh? I can’t stop listening to it.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the mix!

Oooh, yay! I’m so glad to hear you like Pete Yorn & Scar Jo! I adooore the album they did together. Scarlett has such a lovely voice, and they sound fantastic together. My favourite song is “I Am The Cosmos” – gorgeous!

She does have an incredible voice, doesn’t she? Add to that her piano playing skill, and she’s a master in my books!

Enjoy the mix! And YES – add The Beach Boys in! The BEST summer music. :D I always listen to them loads during these months.
