Scandinavian influenced design can be pretty hit or miss for me. I can usually take or leave it. But this space, oh boy, I will take it and I will take six, seven, and eight helpings, please and thank you very much. In two words: dream house. Just look at all that white and grey! I’m in heaven. And I really want polka dots on my bedroom walls! How cool is that? And that tiger sketch on her living room credenza? Fierce! (Literally.)
This gorgeous Scotland home belongs to a guest poster, Deborah, over on a favourite blog of mine, Emmas designblogg. Her envy-inducing space was featured in a post a few days ago and I’m swimming in the inspiration and design lust! I only wish the talented Deborah had her own blog so I could ogle more of her space. Until then, I’m eating up her Instagram‘s like an over-starved bear. So. Good. I want to transplant her house into mine. That’s possible (and totally not weird), right?

Haha, rock on! She does have a very distinctive look. Between her and A Merry Mishap (do you follow her on Instagram, too? Her photos are equally as amazing), I’m swimming in gorgeousness. Lovelovelove.
No worries! I’d say the Scandinavian design aesthetic is lots of white (and white-washed wood), and often with a very neutral palette over all… greys, very pale wood tones, and sometimes blacks. It’s a very minimalist look for sure, and somewhat architectural. Very clean and simple lines. :) From a historical standpoint, their aesthetic comes from pushing functionalism… so that’s where a lot of that simplicity comes from. Hope that helps a bit. :) I’m sure there’s a lot more I could say, but that’s a general idea.
