Really, really digging every last little bit of Humanoid’s autumn/winter lookbook. It’s gorgeous. The patterns, the textures, the page layout, the styling, and of course the clothes… me = lusting. Consider this another one of my “can I please live in this?” moments, because truer words have ne’er been spoken. Simplicity, texture, subtlety, muted colours… A+, Humanoid. A+.

By now, ya’ll should know I can’t resist me some behind-the-scenes photos from assorted fashion weeks, etc. Nope, like a moth to a flame… if they’re out there, I’ll find them, I’ll lust for days on end, and I’ll need to post my favourites. That’s just the way she goes.
This lot is from a few Paris Couture shows, as shot by Kevin Tachman, and features shots from Versace, Bouchra Jarrar, Giambattista Valli, and Chanel’s fall 2012 collections. All super duper gorgeous. Like I really need to state the obvious though.

I’ll bet this collection of images caught you guys off guard, huh? Expecting the ole fashiony standard and what do I toss at ya? No frothy dresses here, but the empty sets from the Dior autumn/winter show… because you know what, they’re just such darn pretty sets on their own. Totally crazy, right? I don’t even care about the clothes because I love the sets more than is probably normal. For funsies, I threw in some of beauty details since they’re pretty rad too. The sets and beauty from this show were both the loveliest of complements to one another, don’t you think?Nothing like an explosion of rainbow flowers coating the entire walls and ceiling of a space, add in some ultra saturated (and perfectly winged) eyeliner with colour coordinating lashes…it’s like the high-fashion version of A Secret Garden. The all-encompassing floral sets added a bit of softness to the otherwise rigid architecture, and the rainbow bright make-up was a welcome burst of vibrancy!

P.S. Oh hey, look – I blogged! Hi all! I know things have been a bit sparse around here lately. My course load has been positively nutso this semester. But I graduate in least than 2 weeks now! (Ahh!) After the crazy has passed, this little blog’ll be back to her regular glory once again. :)

I seem to be on a bit of a fashion editorial craze around these parts lately. There’s just so many amazing ones floating around that it makes it incredibly difficult to resist a massive image dump. This one, for Dossier Journal Online, really knocked my socks off. The collage & layered style of the graphics is totally up my alley – I love the level of depth it brings to the images. Add to that all of the gorgeous floral textures and the vivid colours, I think it’s pretty darn rad. The look even carries over into the video as well, and for video, it’s a pretty unique and original take. Very artful. Me = smitten kitten.

I’ll be upfront here: this Prada lookbook, it’s a few seasons old. I can be pretty not up-and-on the times when it comes to this sort of stuff. But you know what? When something really rad comes along, it transcends “season” and time and all that bologna. Because it’s awesome. And that’s all that counts. (Right?) So that’s what I’m going with: this Prada lookbook is pretty rad, and I like it, so here it is!
I love me some mixed media, so naturally, these are riiiight up my alley. I love the way they’ve blurred the lines of fashion, photography and illustration. In a way, these are even almost cinematic. Or as cinematic as 2d can be. Through the fantasy world that’s been created here, each image does seem like a quick stop into a single frame from some strange dream-like movie though. It’s a bit jarring, but the high concept approach is so well executed, that push/pull of “what in the heck is going on here?” just plain works in a weirdly wonderful way.

Did you ever dream you were a mermaid when you were younger? Perhaps it’s partially a generation thing, and as a young gal that grew up in a The Little Mermaid haze, it was only natural to love, obsess and daydream about being one of said mystical creatures. Though I would never in a million years wish that now (truth: I have a bit of a water phobia…), I still find anything remotely mermaid-y really tugs at my heart strings. The nostalgia strings, in particular. This editorial gives me such nostalgic-mermaid-y vibes. Call me crazy, but it just does. That and summer-y vibes, and holy cow, it’s almost summer! Can you believe it? May disappeared like it didn’t even happen.
Happy “woah, it’s June already!”/”hey, it’s almost summer!” xo.

Oh, Magdalena, you beautiful, beautiful creature, you. Shot by Ben Hassett waaaay back for the January edition of Vogue Germany, I’m still smitten by this editorial months later. Magdalena Frackowiak reels me in with her movements and that hair! Wowzers. It’s like it’s come alive. With the photos shot in black and white, it makes the set even more striking. I have a thing for simplicity, and this is simplicity at its best: luscious locks in grey scale. Dig it.
Oh, the hair envy!
