So for the sake of being a dork, I was curious if I had a song titled with each month of the year in my iTunes library. I did. (And with songs to spare.) I warned you that silliness was abound! I probably should have mentioned dorkiness, too. So I picked my favourites, and made myself a little mix.

I realize this probably looks quite daunting. I’ll say what you’re all thinking: Dude, this is ridiculously long bordering on pure craziness. I hear ya. When I contemplated posting this mix, I originally intended to shorten it down to a more manageable length (15-20 songs). A lot of my mixes are quite lengthy, and sometimes I’ll trim out a song here and there to make it more appropriate for the blog. But when I went to do the same with this one, I just couldn’t bare to do it. I ADORE this mix. It’s awesome. I feel kind of silly saying that since I compiled it, but I just love everything about it. In my eyes, this is my greatest achievement in mixtape making. My Mona Lisa, if you will. And as such an epic mix, it deserved to be shared it all its sparkling glory… all 2.5 hours of it. And similarly to last year’s theme of taking inspiration from an influential musical figure of the year, this year, I’m channeling Lady Gaga. Sparkles, sequins, anything and everything that is over-the-top!

This was quite the challenging mix to compile. I felt I had a pretty limited group of artists to select from (I didn’t cut many to get the 20 that made up this final mix), but my problem lied in that from the selection of albums released in 2010 that I had to pick from, the majority of them were really amazing. I had a really difficult time picking only one song from a lot of them. Goldfrapp, St. Lola in the Fields, Stars, Sia, Hot Chip, She & Him, The Bird and the Bee, CocoRosie and Azure Ray all released incredible albums this year.
