Typically, I tend towards more of a modern look when it comes to architecture. I’m also a real sucker for good old classic, historical design too. But you know what really floats my boat? When someone can combine the two in such an effortless way that it seems the two were meant for each other. Witness the following: gorgeous historic building in Vienna, Austria and plopped right on the top is this ultra modern loft space. I’m talkin’ angles, concrete, glass, wide open space, black vs white… all within the context of such a historical building and city. Pretty rockin’, I think. I’d move in without a second question.

Man, oh man, has it ever been an insane hectic and completely non-stop busy week! It seems even a little blog-time to myself was hard to come by, and so we had a wee bit of an unexpected week-long blog hiatus there. Sorry about that! It was just one of those weeks that come out of nowhere and kicked my butt a little bit. I’ve still got a looot on my plate, so I’m going to take the weekend and go into hyper productivity mode and hopefully get a bit of recharge time in there too.
And for you guys… how about something lovely to take you into the weekend? Because cute animals, fashion-y goodness and a hint of sparkle seem like the perfect “have an awesome weekend!” send off, don’t you agree? So glad I saved this editorial for a hypothetical rainy day. (It’s pretty cool, no? Shot entirely using Instagram! That Nick Knight is a crafty dude.)
That said, have an awesome one, guys! See you bright-eyed and bushed tailed on Monday when things will (hopefully) get back to normal again. xo.

Barring my Stay Inspired and my Mixology series, I’ve kind of let a lot of my “feature” columns fall to the wayside over the last few months, mostly just from disinterest in furthering them, but also from not really knowing what direction I want to take the blog in any more. The latter is a story for another time, but for today I wanted to introduce a little something new… the Collection series. Not fancy, just a short and sweet little grouping of similar things I think are pretty rad/inspiring/generally just awesome.
Installation number #1… oh, just some of those hippity hoppity balls of fluff that I love popping up in unexpected places. Peek-a-boo, rabbits… I see you hanging out in a Lanvin window display…
…gettin’ comfy on that stripey blanket…
…trying to camouflage amongst a Fornasetti installation…
…and, oh hey, hanging out in my own apartment!

I’ll be upfront here: this Prada lookbook, it’s a few seasons old. I can be pretty not up-and-on the times when it comes to this sort of stuff. But you know what? When something really rad comes along, it transcends “season” and time and all that bologna. Because it’s awesome. And that’s all that counts. (Right?) So that’s what I’m going with: this Prada lookbook is pretty rad, and I like it, so here it is!
I love me some mixed media, so naturally, these are riiiight up my alley. I love the way they’ve blurred the lines of fashion, photography and illustration. In a way, these are even almost cinematic. Or as cinematic as 2d can be. Through the fantasy world that’s been created here, each image does seem like a quick stop into a single frame from some strange dream-like movie though. It’s a bit jarring, but the high concept approach is so well executed, that push/pull of “what in the heck is going on here?” just plain works in a weirdly wonderful way.

How about a little burst of colour to inspire and energise you for the coming week? Hells yeah! Let’s have at it…
(Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t hate colour. I know! It’s shocking!)
Hope everyone had as amazing a weekend as I did! I’m thinking this week is going to have a very difficult time trying to measure up. Fingers crossed though. For now, happy Monday and stay inspired. xo.

It’s mixtape time again! This time around, I’m all about tunes that completely take you over, that make you get up immediately within seconds and make you want to rock out alongside these awesome ladies. Basically, if I were a sorta rock star, I’d want to sing these songs. I may not be super into hardcore rock rock, so this is as close as I’ll get. But I think these are some pretty bangin’ tunes. They’ve got attitude, and they make me sing along at the top of my lungs every time (along with the occasional head bang and/or arm pump…) I know I’ll be listening to this as I prep for a show with the band I’m playing in tonight (ahh!) – nervous+excited.
So ROCK ON my friends.

Dear charming apartment in Brooklyn: From first I laid eyes upon you, I knew we’d get along and that you’d become a favourite of mine always. You’re neutral and minimal, relaxed and organic, and I love that about you. You’re the perfect combination of effortless and artful, I dig that. Fitted with the most delightful industrial inspired light fixtures, filled with a perfectly eclectic mix of furniture pieces, and you even have a piano. That was with me in mind, wasn’t it? Wood tones galore, period architecture, and texturetexturetexture… Be still my heart. Dear Brooklyn apartment, won’t you please be mine? I think we were meant to be together.

P.S. I think I’ve finally got Pinterest working on the blog again. If anyone tries to pin something from this post, could you let me know if it worked or not for you? Thanks! xo.
