I’m feeling a little under the weather today,i a feeling that tends to bring out either the hopeless romantic in me, my inner child, or a huge wave of nostalgia. In this instance, I have a bit of a case of all three. The only possible cure I could come up with was: breaking out the ole VHS player and popping in a few classic Disney movies to brighten up my day. I find a good happily ever after can be the perfect medicine for when you’re feeling a bit sluggish.
This is my all-time favourite video. I love it to pieces. Imagine how much you love your dog, or your favourite stuffed animal. No, not quite that much. That would be unhealthy. But almost. The love is up there. ;) The animation style is so full of whimsy, and the characters are so adorable I just want to scoop them all up in a big bear hug. I love the story, too. It’s a super-duper mini-documentary about people’s first crushes. So endearing.
I don’t think it’s possible for me to be any more excited about Tim Burton’s upcoming film Alice in Wonderland (set for release in 2010). News has been circulating around the project for ages and even the slightest mention of it fills me with anticipation. One, because I’m a huge fan of the Alice stories, and two, because Tim Burton can do no wrong. He brings a very whimsical, eerie, experimental, and visionary quality to every film he touches and I always look forward to seeing where he will go next. In this case, his “next” being Alice in Wonderland. At long last, we have the first official glimpse into the film: a collection of six images including three promo shots of the Mad Hatter, Red Queen and White Queen, and three conceptual images of the sets. I think my heart just skipped a beat!
