… or a lot belated, I suppose since even though the Academy Awards were only a little over 2 days ago, they seem like old news already. But Sunday/Monday is my busy period as that’s when each module for university ends for me. All of my assignments are due on Monday nights, so I’m always consumed with editing, adding, and adjusting to perfection late into the night.
Excuses aside though, I quite enjoyed the Oscars on Sunday night. While I adore seeing movies, I’m far from an expert on them, and I very rarely see enough of the nominees to be able to make any educated picks on who will take home the prize. So I just cheer on the movies I like. And drool over the pretty dresses. Since the first isn’t such a promising idea (nothing I was rooting for won… sad face), let’s take a step back to the pretty dresses and to my five personal favourite looks of the evening. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me (I’ve seen some of my picks pop up on worst dressed lists). But that’s fashion - it’s subjective. Some may tend more towards the traditional ball gown, while I like to see something a little more fashion-forward and avant-garde.

Diane Kruger in Chanel
Honestly, she can do no wrong in my eyes. She always looks like perfection. I noticed most people put this on their worst dressed list, but I’m choosing to ignore that. I fell in love with this dress the first time I saw it on the Chanel runway, and I’ve been DYING to see someone wear it to a red carpet event. Diane did it justice and looked flawless.

Just for kicks, I’m dedicating this Head Over Heels post solely to the yummy fashion-y goodness that makes my heart flutter.

It’s hard to believe that 2009 and this decade are already coming to a close! It’s unreal to think back on the Y2K hoopla – that was ten years ago now! For me personally, 2009 has been a year of so many huge changes in almost every aspect of my life, so I thought it would only be fitting to do a small summary of the top 9 things that made me happy this year and made 2009 memorable.

Welcome to The One Hundredth – my 100th post! I’m so thrilled! It’s hard to believe that only 3.5 months ago, I reached 50 posts. And a few short months before that, back in dreary February, I revived this itty bitty little blog from its year-long hiatus. I’m so glad that I did, too. In fact, knowing how much this blog and the people I’ve met through it mean to me now, I only wish I would have brought it back to life much sooner. Hello, sappiness. ;)
But anyhow, when faced with the task of coming up with “the perfect” topic to celebrate the 100 post mark, I had so many different ideas of what to do, but nothing seemed quite right. Until I found the photograph below. And then it just clicked. After all, that’s what this blog is all about in the first place: anything and everything that I love and find inspiring. My favourite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes,
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,
Silver white winters that melt into springs,
These are a few of my favourite things…

Hello, autumn! Boy, am I glad to see you! After the scorching summer heat and nasty black flies, you’re a sight for sore eyes. So farewell until next year, summer, because I’m quite content with the cooler weather.
I come from a family where autumn is generally loathed simply because it means winter is on its way. And I know on the whole, autumn isn’t really a favourite amongst the general population. But personally, autumn is my favourite season. It’s a welcome relief from the hot sun. It brings crisp mornings with the first hint of frost of the grass. Adding a snuggly quilt to your bed. Breaking out chunky knitted sweaters from the back of your closet. ♥
So as an ode to my favourite season, proof that not everything is bad about it. As far as colour is concerned, autumn is a feast for the eyes. Plus, last week, Poppytalk hosted Autumn Colour Week and I didn’t have a chance to participate until now. Instead of doing a daily digest of autumn colours, this is just one big collection of browns, yellows, reds, oranges, and greens.
