Before discovering the wonders of the blogosphere, I used to be fairly active in livejournal communities. I participated in a lot of journaling and art journaling communities. I even kept ones of my own for quite a few years and posted them from time to time. I’ve since given up on art journaling (though I do kind of wish I hadn’t) and I’m not nearly as active in those art communities any more, but I still follow one of two of my favourite and most inspirational ones. The following collection of images are some pages I’ve saved over the years, and that I keep coming back to for a little jolt of creativity whenever I’m feeling worn thin.

Because I love how bare, understated, elemental and simple it is as a design material. I find myself using it more and more often in design projects.

I’ve found her! The maker of my all-time favourite video in all of existence! I’ve finally found out who the genius behind it is and it feels like I just discovered some miraculous new species of insect or something, that’s how positively elated I am. I’m like a kid on Christmas morning hyped up on sugar and bouncing off the walls! It’s frightening how excited I am right now. She’s the one and only, illustrator Julia Pott, and her work is positively electrifying! I just spent the last few hours perusing her Flickr stream and oh my word, it’s like I’ve died and gone to illustration heaven. A wonderful illustration filled heaven complete with copious amounts of charming little animals, unusual colour palettes, and patterns galore!
