This Moment… In July 2010

Necklaces

Listening… (and quite obsessively, might I add) to the new Sia and Stars albums. Both have been on constant repeat in iTunes the entire month. I can’t tear myself away from them!

Cooking… myself the most delicious shrimp and snow pea pasta. Perhaps there’s hope for me and my cooking skills yet.

Hanging… pictures on my walls. My apartment is slowly looking less like a disaster zone and more like a home. Once I get all my furniture, I promise I will post pictures.

Wearing… my favourite black and white ikat skirt. I love it so and wear it perhaps a little too often.

Anticipating… August 11th, the end of my summer semester and the beginning of 2.5 glorious school-free weeks. I can’t wait!

Ocean City Girl

16 July 2010

Hello, my lovelies! It’s been what seems like an eternity. But I’m still alive and kickin’. It’s been a super stressful semester for me which in turn has meant my blog activities have decreased exponentially. I hate that that’s the case, but such is life, non?

As a bit of a de-stresser after my midterm projects were turned in, I went on a little adventure to the ocean with a friend last week. So much fun. I forgot how much I loved going to the ocean. This is why I’m an east coast girl; without that water on my doorstep, it just doesn’t feel right.

Red & White

To my fellow Canucks, I hope you’re all enjoying this wonderful July 1st, Canada’s 143rd birthday! It’s absolutely beautiful out today here on the east coast so I’ve been trying my best to soak it all up. While I technically don’t get today off (since I go to an American university), I am an online student so I basically make my own schedule anyway. And even though I have mountains of projects piling up, I really don’t care. It’s Canada Day, and I’m going to celebrate! Take that, homework! In any case, I’ll be heading down to the waterfront shortly so I’ll leave you all with a handful of red & white pictures in honour of this amazing country.

W is for…

Wednesday, WeHeartIt, words… or lack thereof. Not sure what’s come over me, but my usual chatterbox-y self seems to be a bit tongue tied as of late. I’ve sat down countless times to write entries, and the words just don’t seem to want to flow. They’re all bottled up, swimming around inside my head, but they refuse to do anything more than mash together in nonsense. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been home alone for a few days with no one to talk to, or what, so for today, I’ll just let this handful of lovely images of the things that are currently inspiring me do the talking. (Consider this my first take on Wordless Wednesday. Except that it’s more of a WeHeartIt Wednesday since this post was primarily created by ransacking WHI. Or perhaps a One-or-Two Words Wednesday since I babbled a little bit anyway.)

Welcome, Spring

I think it’s finally safe to say spring is in the air! I honestly was not expecting it to pop its head around the corner for a few more weeks yet, but we’ve already been basking in sunshine for about a week now. I think this might be the first ‘first day or spring’ in many years that it’s actually felt like spring. But there isn’t an ounce of snow in sight, and I’ve already dug my flats out from under by bed. I can’t wait to start wearing dresses comfortably again! I think what I’m most looking forward to about spring is being able to hop on my bicycle at any given time and explore the city.i

As today is the official first day of spring (and since I was super busy with midterm presentations during actual Spring Colour Week) today seemed like an appropriate day to make up this post. As much as I love winter, I really enjoy all of the seasons (not a huge summer fan, but I deal) so there’s always something to look forward to with the passing of each into the next. And it’s so refreshing seeing all these bright, pastel colours of spring once again. They really bring a smile to my face. So onward to much colourful inspiration in the form of pink, chartreuse, robin’s egg blue, yellow, and purple!
