If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a bajillion times: mixed media makes me insanely happy. Which is why photographer/artist Kari Herer is a big favourite of mine and why I’ve been following her work for quite some time. It was her magnolias and beetles series (see below, 2nd image from the bottom of this post) that first caught my eye. I absolutely love her take on photography + illustration, combining the two to create one complementary image composed of loose sketches and items from nature. It’s absolutely inspired, and a unique signature all her own.
Her new set of photographs featuring hand drawn rabbits adorned with flower buds is riiiiight up my alley.

It’s such a whimsical touch to the standard sketch by adding in the odd flower bud purposely placed across the page. The florals complement the drawings perfectly creating an unexpected and unorthodox point of colour, texture, and depth. I love it.
And here are some other favourites from her shop:

Last post. (Aww.) Kind of a random smattering of things here. A bit of Queensland, a bit of South Australia, a bit of Victoria, a bit of New South Wales… Very random. But pretty! I wanted to save the best for last, so here are all those breathtaking landscapes (and adorable animals) we all associate with Australia…

It would be the greatest understatement of the century if I didn’t say this was the greatest adventure and experience of my entire life. It was amazing, and I’m forever changed for it. (Also, I’d go back in a second. I feel like Sydney is home.)
And that’s all folks! Hope you enjoyed! If you want more, I have 100 more pictures on my Flickr. (No obligation, I’m sure you guys are on Australia overload at the moment.)
In case you missed any, you can see the rest of my Australia pictures in the following entries: Australia, Part I – Melbourne & Canberra, Australia, Part II – Sydney Suburbs, and Australia, Part III – Downtown Sydney.
All photos by me.
Part II, ahoy! I spent the majority of my time in Australia living in Sydney. So naturally, I have an over-abundance of Sydney pictures. This selection of photos shows some of the various suburbs within the city (barring the downtown area which will have its own post). From iconic Bondi Beach and the majestic Blue Mountains, to a cute animal explosion from Targona Zoo and architecturally beautiful Balmain (a.k.a. when-I-win-the-lottery-I’m-moving-there)…

Oh Sydney, I heart you. If you’re of the same mind as I am, you’ll want to check out tomorrow’s post as well. More Sydney! Yay! This time, the downtown area, iconic Opera House and all.
And in case you missed it… Australia, Part I – Melbourne & Canberra.
All photos by me.
Hey. Remember that time when I was living in Australia for 3 months and I gushed about it constantly? Remember when I promised over a month ago that I’d post pictures ASAP? Remember how I’m not so hot at being prompt? Oops…
So let’s recap, shall we? 89 days, approximately 25 000km, 12 flights, 4 states, 15+ cities/towns, a bajillion kangaroos, over 2000 photos… all culminated into 65 pictures, 4 posts. Fun times, ya? Hopefully this will give you a small taste of my travels in the land down unda.
Part I, as my post title so cleverly indicates, covers the beautiful cities of Melbourne & Canberra (and one picture from Adelaide). Total extremes. You’ve got Melbourne, your chill “arts & culture” hub, and Canberra, a man-made city built to house parliament. I won’t go into detail since I’d be here for an eternity and a half, but for a quick description of each picture, just hover over it. And if you want to know anything specific, gimme a shout in the comments. :)

Stay tuned for Part II – Sydney Suburbs tomorrow. xo.
