Those that know me, know that I’m a wee bit head over heels for winter. It’s only the greatest season! Nothing beats knitted scarves, snugly mittens, icicles sparkling in the light, that tingly feeling when your nose starts to un-thaw after being out in the cold air. And most importantly, snow!! It’s no stretch of the truth when I say snow is one of my favourite things in the whole wide world. “Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes / Silver white winters that melt into springs /These are a few of my favorite things” – that lyric could have been written by me. It hasn’t been feeling too wintry around these parts the whole season and that’s been supremely depressing (for me, anyway). But over the weekend, we finally got a nice little dusting of snow, and I’m thrilled! ILU, snow.
P.S. Trying a little something different with my images this time around. Yay/nay?

“A few times in my life I’ve had moments of absolute clarity, when for a few brief seconds the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I have lived my life on these moments. They pull me back to the present, and I realize that everything is exactly the way it was meant to be.”

As much as I go on about my undying love of snow and winter, I’m just as much enamored with spring. More than ever, I can’t wait for the season to get underway. It’ll be a welcome change of pace and a great excuse to usher in a brand new mindset. Spring always seems to put people in generally happier moods, and I say: Bring on the happy!

Can I take (yet another) moment to appreciate the beauty that is winter? Because this time of year is just so magical, and frankly, so overlooked. Everyone is caught up in their “Can it be spring now?” frames of mind, and are too busy to really appreciate the loveliness that surrounds us. If we can take the time to stop and smell the roses, why not take a few spare moments to take in the wondrousness of snowflakes glistening in the afternoon sunlight? Snow clusters resting on tree branches? Bird tracks in the freshly fallen snow?

Yes, this post title needs that exclamation mark. Because at long, long last, it finally snowed here last night! I couldn’t be happier! I was starting to get really depressed since it’d been winter for over a month, and there wasn’t a snow flurry in sight (okay, maybe there were a few, but nothing on the ground). Just rain. Lots and lots of rain. And as a gigantic winter lover and snow obsessee, Mother Nature was going to getting a stern letter from me pronto. This is Canada, after all. We’re supposed to have pet polar bears, live in igloos, and ride dog sleds to work every day. Fortunately, Mother Nature foresaw my displeasure and remedied the situation before anyone got hurt. I sound like a sociopath now… I promise, I just really, really like snow. Winter just isn’t the same without it.
