Like I needed another excuse to further indulge my overwhelming wanderlust, but these photo+type mash-ups of cities and countries across Europe were just too good. I love the muted colours in the photographs and the classic type treatments – very old world romantic, and perfect for these historic European locales.
… and now I’m off daydreaming of escaping down winding side streets, and exploring little shops and cafes, and sitting on a park bench to people watch. Impromptu Europe trip anyone? I say we hit up each of these lovely cities/countries below. They’re taunting me to come visit! Amsterdam and Prague, especially!
Excuse me while I bask in nostalgia for a few minutes here. I really miss Sydney. Sometimes it’s still kind of surreal that my travels in Australia are already over. I feel like I should still be looking forward to them. After all, I spent a good year of my life looking forward to going to Australia. And then I was there, and I fell in love, and it went by in the blink of an eye. Cue wistful sigh.
This little video has me dreaming about and falling in love with it all over again. What can I say? I’m a sucker for travel videos. And travel videos with awesome typography are even better. Like a moth to a flame, I’m longing for sandy beaches, bustling downtown streets, that beautiful and humungous! harbour, koalas…
For the ultra-wanderlust-filled among us (raise your hands proudly, you’re not alone!), they also have equally as lovely videos for other cities, including Vancouver, Beijing, London and Paris, among others. Go forth and enjoy!
Because I wasn’t lying when I said I was superduper obsessed with this calendar compiled from photographs of house numbers. Nope, not even close. In fact I’ve started to cross the line between regular and healthy love to full on kind-of-frightening-I-should-probably-be-restrained obsession. The other night I was Googling up a storm rivaling Doomsday in size, and I found this glorious set of 365 photos of house numbers on Flickr! Oh, sweet baby Jesus, it was like my birthday and drinking milkshakes and and popping bubble wrap and petting fluffy sheep and hearing my favourite song all at the. same. time. Guys, I got it baaaad. I fear my obsession cannot be cured. And like any noteworthy rabidly disease consumed person-slash-zombie-type-thing, I must pass the infection on… broohahaaa.

Little known fact, once upon a time, I studied graphic design for a year. Yup. Ended up not being my thing, but I’m still made about type! Typography is what initially drew me to graphic design. I’m not so much on the up-and-up with the graphic design community at present, but one thing I do really enjoy looking over is custom typography. One of my favourite artists is Seb Lester.
Prepare yourself for the ultimate source of inspirational and breathtaking images – a double threat, if you will. This would be the work of photographer and graphic designer Julian Bialowas. 365q is a year-long project he set out upon to recreate one of his own photographs in a new way daily. Each of his photographs is awe-inspiring on its own capturing the picturesque mountain-scapes and scenery of Alberta, Canada (among other locations) where he is based. Layered atop each of these images is a quotation speaking of adventure, creativity, nature and motivation.
